Microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a non-surgical medical procedure using thin needles to make tiny channels in the top layer of your skin. This process stimulates your skin’s natural healing response, boosting the production of collagen and elastin, which work to keep your skin smooth and younger-looking. The procedure is often paired with a topical application of platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, which increases collagen production.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling can improve the texture of your skin by reducing the appearance of mild-to-moderate acne scars, burn scars and stretch marks. It can also minimize pores, lift and tighten sagging skin, and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike heat, light, or laser treatments, it doesn’t carry the risk of skin discoloration.

Is microneedling safe for other parts of the body?

The most common application for microneedling is on the face, but its application extends to treatment of the legs, back, neck, or other areas where you notice damaged or aging skin.

How long does treatment take?

The duration of treatment will vary from case to case and the size of treatment areas, but in general, microneedling takes about 30 minutes to complete.

How long can the results last?

These micro-wounds should also heal fairly quickly, though you might not see immediate results until a few weeks later. Generally, microneedling results can last for four to six weeks depending on your skin’s turnover cycle.
